According to the newspaper El Economista, these projects will mean the implementation of more than 500 MWh of storage capacity in Spain and the Dominican Republic, consolidating Dominion as a key player in the development of clean energy with innovative management and storage solutions.
A proven model: Burgos pilot
Before making this leap, Dominion has validated the model with a pilot project in the province of Burgos, where a 1 MW battery system with two hours of autonomy has been installed on a plant with 5,292 solar panels (3 MW capacity).
This system makes it possible to store surplus solar energy and release it at times of higher demand or lower production, thus ensuring:
- Greater efficiency in the use of renewable energies.
- Stability in the electricity grid.
More constant income thanks to the flexibility of the model.
The results have been so positive that the installation has already been fully integrated into the company's energy management and control system.
300 MWh in Spain and 200 MWh in the Dominican Republic
Of the total of 16 projects:
- 12 will be in Spain (7 in Castilla y León and 5 in Castilla-La Mancha), providing 300 MWh of storage capacity.
- 4 will be developed in the Dominican Republic, with 200 MWh of solar capacity and battery systems capable of injecting up to 102 MWh for 4 hours at a time.
Both markets offer fertile ground for innovation: Spain, for its solar resource and regulatory evolution; and the Dominican Republic, for the opportunities to add value in the transition to a cleaner and safer energy system.
