Technology applied to healthcare
The provision of modern healthcare services requires a robust digital infrastructure capable of ensuring the continuity, security and efficiency of clinical processes.
For eight years, DOMINION has managed the technological infrastructure of the Antofagasta Hospital, ensuring its continuous and secure operation.
With more than 1,000 computers, 200 printers and 900 support devices operating 24/7, this hospital offers primary and specialised care services — from paediatrics and gynaecology to highly complex areas such as tomography, cardiac surgery and dialysis — supported by state-of-the-art clinical systems.
These include the Health Information System (HIS), the Laboratory Management System, the Blood Bank System, the Diet Management System and the Concession Communication Information System (SIC), which integrates all the information necessary for patient care.
Modernising the hospital's technological infrastructure
At the heart of this technological network is the Data Processing Centre (DPC), the core that enables all clinical and management systems to function without interruption.
As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, DOMINION has developed a project to replace and implement new servers for the concessionaire's existing DPC, ensuring the modernisation and strengthening of the technological infrastructure that supports the hospital's operations.
The project has made it possible to update and optimise processing and storage capacity, ensuring more efficient, scalable and secure operation of the clinical and management systems that operate 24/7.
Likewise, the RAC (Real Application Cluster) environment was migrated to a new, higher-performance platform, resulting in improved availability, stability and long-term technological sustainability.
Critical operation without interruptions
One of the greatest achievements of this project was its execution without affecting the operation of the hospital, which runs 24/7.
The process was designed to minimise any impact on clinical services, so that medical staff did not notice any changes or interruptions in access to systems and information throughout the transition.
The result is a modern, robust and efficient technological infrastructure that strengthens the hospital's ability to provide safer, more connected and patient-centred care.
