The challenge

Murcia City Council had an ambitious goal: to turn the historic Artillery Barracks into a digital innovation space that would boost content creation, audiovisual production and the development of the local e-sport ecosystem.
An even greater challenge considering that the project had to be completed in just 90 days and that the building, protected for its heritage value, imposed strict structural limitations for any technical intervention.

DOMINION led the submission to the European public tender, partnering with INFiLED, a world leader in LED technology, and B-Tech, a specialist in audiovisual mounting solutions, to create a space capable of combining historical heritage and cutting-edge technology

DOMINION took on the complete management of the project, from obtaining the public contract to the technical, logistical and installation coordination together with our partners.

The project included two main spaces within the new Audiovisual Hub of Murcia:

• A photographic and digital production studio, equipped with a 12x4 metre curved LED DBmk2 LED screen, side panels and an LED ceiling with AR Series technology, which allows for the creation of immersive visual environments without altering the original structure of the building.
• A gaming arena, equipped with a large 18x4 metre DB Series LED screen, designed for e-sport events and community activities, with improved resistance to heavy use and public interaction.

The implementation of the project was a major technical challenge: customised structures were designed to avoid direct contact with the historic walls, hundreds of international components and materials were managed, and European funding deadlines were rigorously met.

Results

The Audiovisual Hub of Murcia is now a centre of reference for creators, artists, students and gamers, who can freely access first-class audiovisual facilities.
The project has positioned Murcia as a pioneering city in digital innovation and technological creativity, while preserving and giving new life to an emblematic space of its urban heritage.

This success demonstrates DOMINION's ability to lead end-to-end technological projects, combining innovation, heritage and local development in a sustainable and collaborative way.

Recognition

In 2026, this project received the Best AV Integration Award at the AV INTEGRATION Awards 2026, one of Spain's leading recognitions in the audiovisual industry. The jury highlighted the technical complexity of integrating an xR studio and a state-of-the-art gaming arena within a protected historic building, particularly recognising the project's end-to-end approach, the quality of the engineering delivered, and its ability to combine technological innovation with heritage preservation.
