The challenge
Building 12A at the Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering, formerly the library of the School of Industrial Engineering and unused for many years, has been refurbished to bring the space back to life and transform it into a new venue for education and events. Promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council (Diputació de Barcelona), the project included the creation of a 260-seat auditorium and two multi-purpose training rooms that can operate independently or be combined into a single space through a motorized partition system.
The main challenge was to equip the building with an audiovisual infrastructure capable of delivering outstanding image and sound quality, intuitive management of all systems, and the flexibility required to accommodate a wide range of uses and event formats.
DOMINION's Plus
To meet these requirements, DOMINION delivered a turnkey project that included the supply, installation and commissioning of the building's complete audiovisual systems.
The auditorium features a 6.6 × 4 m LED wall with energy-efficient Flip-Chip technology, a digital conference and simultaneous interpretation system at every seat, a professional video production system with state-of-the-art cameras, stage lighting, and a fully IP-based architecture with video over Ethernet and audio distributed via the DANTE protocol.
The two training rooms were designed to provide maximum flexibility, incorporating 3.5 × 2 m LED displays, video production cameras, wireless microphones, a conference system and multiple connection points distributed throughout the space. In addition, both rooms can be combined to extend the auditorium's seating capacity whenever required.
Results
The project delivered by DOMINION has equipped the building to meet today's needs in education, knowledge sharing and professional events, combining technological innovation, energy efficiency and exceptional flexibility.
The integrated audiovisual infrastructure enables centralized management of all AV systems, enhancing the experience for both on-site audiences and hybrid events and live broadcasts. Completed in March 2026, the project represented an investment of more than €1.14 million and has transformed Building 12A into a future-ready space designed to meet the evolving demands of education and communication.
